3 hours from Naples, maybe a little less from Rome, Ponza is the biggest of Pontine Islands. Arriving at the port is always an amazing feeling since you are greeted by a splash of colors. I directly started to walk up to the little church next to the port and kept climbing to the small streets and houses. The island is filled with little white and pastel houses, giving the impression to be inside a postcard.
HOW TO GET TO PONZA ?
Only by ferry from Rome or Formia. I took mine from Naples.
WHAT TO DO IN PONZA ?
-Take a baot to one of the secluded beaches. Ponza is very wild and some of it’s best beaches are only accessible by boat. But if you are lazy or don’t have a lot of time, there are nice beaches next to the port which are not very crowded, even in mid july.
-Take a lunch with a view at Ristorante la Scogliera.
-Take a break from the center and enjoy a nice view from the church right next to the port “Parrocchia Santi Silverio e Domitilla”
-Keep walking and enjoy the little streets.
