A few rules to respect in the metro

  • Mind the stairs : not every station has an elevator. Although many stations are accessible and recognizable by a wheelchair pictogram, some only have stairs or escalators.
  • Don’t let your guard down : It’s very easy to get pickpocketed in crowded places such as the subway. Always make sure to close your bag, avoid showing objects of value and keep an eye on your belongings. These rules are important in the streets as well, especially in very visited places.
  • Choose your tickets very well : here’s a list of all the types of tickets you can buy depending on your needs. Make sure to always validate your ticket in order to avoid a fine. Always buy your tickets from vending machines or RATP counters.
  • Try to avoid the busiest lines, on the busiest hours. When travelling, always remember that locals are working and taking the subway in the morning (between 7 and 10 AM ) and in the evening ( between 5 and 7 PM).
